PRACTICAL PROTOCOLS FOR EVERYDAY DENTISTRY

Explore the art of mastering satisfactory dental crowns in our hands-on workshop tailored for everyday dentistry.

This intensive 3-day course is crafted to significantly enhance dentists' expertise in critical areas of restorative dentistry. Participants will receive comprehensive training in:

Proper Restoration Workflow: Gain insights into optimizing the entire restorative process, from initial diagnosis and treatment planning to the final stages of cementation. Learn efficient methods for managing each phase to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Material Selection: Understand the characteristics and best uses of various restorative materials, including porcelain, metal, resin, and composites. The course will guide you in selecting the most suitable material based on clinical requirements and patient preferences.

Tooth Preparation: Develop advanced skills in preparing teeth for different types of crowns. The training includes detailed instruction on achieving ideal tooth reduction, margin design, and accommodating different crown materials.

Digital Impressions: Master the use of intraoral scanners to obtain accurate digital impressions. Participants will gain hands-on experience in capturing high-quality digital data and learn how to interpret and utilize this information effectively.

3D Design & Printing: Learn the principles and techniques of 3D design & printing in restorative dentistry. This includes practical experience with 3D planning, designing, and printing of dental restorations, along with an understanding of post-processing techniques.

Provisional Crowns: Explore the importance and techniques of creating effective provisional crowns. Learn how to fabricate and fit provisional restorations that maintain tooth function and aesthetics during the interim period.

Cementation Techniques: Understand the various types of dental cements and their application methods. The course will cover best practices for achieving a secure and durable bond between the restoration and the prepared tooth.

By the end of this course, you will have enhanced your skills across these essential areas, equipping you with the knowledge and practical experience to apply advanced restorative techniques confidently in your practice.

Course Schedule

  • This focuses on restorative workflow, preparation designs, material selection and impression techniques. Participants will engage in hands-on sessions for patient set-up, tooth preparations, and digital and analog impressions.

  • This session is a continuation of the digital impression techniques, and hands-on practice in gingival retraction. Participants will learn about provisional restorations through both lectures and practical hands-on experience. The course also introduces digital planning for 3D printing temporary shells, providing a modern approach to provisional restorations.

  • The final day covers cementation, with a lecture on techniques followed by hands-on practice. Participants will work on adjustments, polishing, and cementation. This session ensures proficiency in completing restorations.

Dr. Margaret Porter-Co earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of the Philippines, Manila, in 2010. She further enhanced her expertise with a Certificate of Postgraduate Study and a Master of Science in Dentistry in Prosthodontics from Indiana University, which she completed in 2015. She served as a Part-Time Faculty member and Prosthodontic Head at National University College of Dentistry. Dr. Margaret is also a dedicated lecturer, actively engaging in various continuing education programs and seminars, where she imparts her extensive knowledge and skills to fellow dental professionals.
